＜宇宙船とは？＞
科学的探査・軍事的調査などの目的で人間を一定期間宇宙空間に滞在させるために作られた人工構造物のことである。この中には、人間の長期宇宙滞在を目的に作られた宇宙ステーションなども含まれるが、一般に宇宙船とは、

人間を安全に宇宙空間に到達させ
かつ、安全に地球に帰還させる
という機能を備えているものであり、それらのものを特に宇宙往還機と呼ぶ。特に帰還の場合は、大気圏再突入の際に発生する高温から機体を保護するために、様々な対策を講ずる必要がある。
